NEJS summer tour to Silva O’Camp

Earlier this summer 12 NEJS juniors and three coaches travelled to Czechia for the week-long Silva O’Camp – and it was amazing!  As you can see from the photos below this was a fantastic opportunity for our juniors to make new international friends and improve their orienteering skills, and most importantly, strengthen their commitment to the sport. Everyone came back thoroughly exhausted having spent hours in the forest improving their orienteering and having fun. Highlights were – ‘super puncher’, micro-orienteering, tiomila format relays, the Olympic ceremony and the international parade! If you see any of the juniors please ask them about it, I’m sure they will enjoy telling you all about it.

NEJS training weekend – Dale Park, March 2025

This weekend 7 juniors and 3 coaches from the NEJS travelled to the South Lakes for a day of training at Dale Park, followed by the LOC Cumbrian Galoppen event at Great Tower. An early set-off meant we were ready to train before lunch on the Saturday, starting off with a control pick exercise. The YHOA junior squad had kindly allowed us to join in with their training, so it gave our juniors a good challenge! Visualisation and Simplification exercises followed, but then came the rain!!

Back at our base for the night, High Wray Village Hall, we enjoyed the warmth and the table tennis table!

On Sunday the sun made an appearance and we all enjoyed our runs at Great Tower, some more than others! The juniors were amazing – always keen to learn new skills and techniques, and have lots of fun. Now for the JK and British Long Champs …
